Lake Ullswater was the scene for Steve Riddle’s swim challenge this week as he prepares for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 in Bolton. Steve swam a successful 5K crossing from the Park Foot Holiday Park, near the stunning Pooley Bridge.
Sarah Woodiwiss, also in preparation for the impending Ironman event, took on the Deva Olympic Triathlon. Despite having greater elevation on the 40K cycle part, which crosses into Wales from Chester, Sarah managed to beat her time at Southport Olympic and was 6th in her age category. The swim section is a 1500 metre challenge in the currents of the River Dee and the 10K run is three laps of riverside paths, local minor roads and two bridges – the Old Dee Bridge and suspension bridge.
Sarah finished the epic Tri challenge in 3:32:13.
