The ladies’ team ran first at with the men setting off 50 minutes later at 3pm. As always, the ladies’ race was shorter than the men’s clocking up 7.9K rather than the men’s 11.75 but both were challenging routes.
The trilogy of Burnden ladies was led home by Gwen Kinloch in 37:18. Second place went to Anne Ferguson in 41:15 and Kathryn Baron crossed in 44:38.
The men were spearheaded by Matthew Dewhurst who finished in 46:08. Following him home were Michael Kermode in 49:33, Paul Duke – 50:15, Steve Nolan – 57:30, Keith Thomas – 1:03:04 and Tony Fulop completing most of the course in 1:01:34.
HYROX HURRAH
Described as ‘the world series of fitness racing’, it’s a brave bunch who take on the Hyrox event. Originating in Germany in 2017, this relatively new approach to training has become super popular for people looking to take fitness to the next level.
Hundreds of people gathered in a warehouse in Manchester to race amid an electrifying atmosphere full of supporters over the weekend where ladies and men were separated into different age categories.
Incorporating cardio and strength, Hyrox competitors race 1km between eight activities – SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls.
Competing in this terrifying event from Burnden ladies was Lisa Berry who finished in 1:31:48. Burnden men were represented by Martin Fielding who completed in 1:31:23 and Lyall Mew – 1:38:12.
