Burnden member Paul Christie remembers Ann Oliver
"Ann joined Burnden in 2006 and her first competitive race for us was the Lostock 6 race in February. She, of course, came home first in her L65 category. Results.
In 2009 when Burnden first participated in the Northern Athletics 12 & 6 stage we could only get 5 ladies to volunteer to run (only 13 ladies ran in any club championship race that year!). When Ann was approached to she if she would be willing to make up the team she said "of course she would". It was no big deal to Ann, and on the day she wasn't impressed by all the quick 'young' male and female runners. Results.
I remember her saying
"let's see if they are still running when they get to my age". She was 69 years young that year!!
What she most loved though was the Leverhulme parkrun. She had a fantastic age graded average (even allowing for her slower 'easy' Saturday mornings) of 78.65%. Her time of 26 minutes and 33 seconds in 2013 scored an incredible 88.20% (the highest ever by a Burnden member) and she finished over 10% ahead of the second 'age graded' runner.
