Burnden Road Runners with England Athletics is supporting the This Girl can Campain which is a National campaign created with Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations. It’s a celebration of women up and down the country who are running, jogging or walking their way to a more active lifestyle.
The lets lift the curfew campaign is in particular what Burnden Road Runners will be supporting, Coinciding with the clocks going back and days getting darker earlier, we are joining other running clubs in providing a safe and supportive place for women to run.
Lets lift the curfew
We'll be promoting each of our groups runs this week along side the campaigns flagship run in partnership with GM Moving in Manchester, on the evening of Monday 28 October.
Burnden are proud to offer a safe space for everyone to train and our Monday evening runs and track sessions provide a women with confidence that they can run with a group safely during the darker evenings.
Our runs this week will coincide with the clocks going back and the return of fewer daylight hours, drawing attention to the need for women’s safety when exercising in the winter months.
Burnden Road Runners will be one of many sport clubs who will be hosting additional runs across the UK, to drive awareness on a national scale. Good Gym and England Athletics’ Run Together programme will be supporting the campaign and hosting a number of events during the week beginning 28 October, that anyone can attend.
